Self LOVE

As a person who always put others needs first, I tend to forget about my own. I have been left shaken and lost these last few weeks, as I became so used to putting all my love and energy into everyone else. As the summer is beginning to wrap up with everyone is working and moving on with their lives, I have been forced to only worry about taking care of myself. Though this is quite sad for someone like myself, who thrives off others energy, in the end it may be very beneficial.
I have forgotten how to love myself.
Lately, I have been very insecure about my body and just my overall personality. These insecurities are something I really want to work on before I go off to college. Granted, all my insecurities won’t be fully fixed in these next two months, but I hope to see at least some improvement. Every girl- actually every person-has insecurities. However, nobody would ever know because for some reason no one talks about it. Why is not socially acceptable to share our flaws? Why do we all make ourselves seem perfect? Why, when someone opens up to you about an issue, you just pretend you have never felt that way before? Why are so we so scared to be imperfect and why are we so scared to love ourselves before others?
I have done tons of research on self-love/women empowerment over these past few weeks and have compiled the best tips THAT ACTUALLY WORK to begin your journey of self-love.

Be kind to yourself
When you mess up or do something embarrassing, rather than beat yourself up about it, learn from it. Figure out what caused this mistake.. Were you tired, hungry, overworked or jealous, and then figure out what you can do next time to see better results. Being hard on yourself sometimes is needed when you need a little boost, but it can become overpowering and you can become filled with an insane amount of self-hate.

Pamper
Now, this doesn’t mean go to the spa and blow 300 dollars on a massage even though that may sound nice. Pampering yourself after a long day of work or school could mean taking a bath, watching your favorite show, getting a grande instead of a tall at Starbucks… something little to cheer yourself up and boost your spirits. Pampering yourself physically or mentally are both great ways to relax and show yourself a little extra love.

Surround yourself with positive people
Being around confident good people will inspire and motivate you to love yourself. Life is all about who you surround yourself and nobody can do this on their own. You need the support and love from people around you. Positive energy is contagious.

Clear your mind
Get to know yourself and truly understand your current beliefs and values, and what they mean to you. If your beliefs and values are not fulfilling, think about why you are still clinging onto them. There are many different activities that can help you clear your mind such as meditation, read a book, workout, talk to a friend, or color.

Journal
Journaling is a very individual activity and can be very therapeutic. In a world filled with social media, it is really difficult to unplug. Journaling can also boost your mood and recharge your brain. But if you journal daily, it can be the perfect excuse to get away from all the technology and to only focus on yourself.

Celebrate
When was the last time you gave yourself a pat on the back or said you were proud of yourself? Maybe you aced your test, made the sports team, made a new friend or got a new job. Recognize all of your accomplishments every day and take a few moments to praise yourself! Taking some time to realize our strengths/wins, our self-esteem will be boosted and our confidence! Celebrate the wins!

Good luck with your self-love journey!

What I wish I knew in high school

IMG_1572

It’s a scary/crazy thing: that moment when you realize that high school is over. I am so beyond thankful for my time in high school. I cherish all the people I met there and all the long-lasting relationships I made. I hope this helps someone who is starting high school or in their last year of it. My goal for this post is for anyone reading this to know… you can always learn something new. I am so excited to start college next year and will take all these lessons with me.

#1 TAKE RISKS
As cliche as that sounds, taking risks is an amazing thing. Audition for the play. Run for student council. Join the cheer team or try out for volleyball. I wish I had become more active in my school by joining as many clubs and teams as possible. Try everything. I truly only regret times when I let my fear get the best of me and didn’t try at all.

#2 ASK FOR HELP
You can’t do it all on your own! Ask for help when needed; everyone in your community is there to support you. You will not seem weak in asking for help, whether it’s in a class or a personal issue, you will actually seem strong because you are making the right decision for yourself. No successful high school student did it by themselves.

#3 BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE
High schoolers are pulled in many directions: school, work, family, friends, relationships, sports etc… it’s so hard to fit them all in. So, having a balance and managing your time is important in order to find success in all those areas.

#4 NOBODY CARES
You didn’t wash your hair last night or are wearing the same shirt you wore last week nobody will care or NOTICE. Everyone is too worried about what they look like, they aren’t focused on anyone else.

#5 TELL YOUR FAMILY YOU LOVE THEM
Friends come and go. Relationships end, but your family is always there. Appreciate them while you can before you leave the nest.

#6 YOU NEED SLEEP
Sleep is food for your brain. You need sleep to be able to function especially during this busy time of your life. Lack of sleep makes it very difficult to get along with your family and friends and cause you to do to do bad on tests and cause lack of focus during sports. So please sleep !!

#7 PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE
Make new friends and talk to new people. Making friends is an essential part of life and there is no better time than high school to start exploring that skill. Making friends is so fun and you are able to connect with so many more people.

What you NEED in your purse

This is a widely popular tag on youtube but I thought I’d bring this to the blogging world.

I think a handbag could be very helpful but came become a hassle if you are carrying the wrong items…. Here is what you NEED to have in your handbag

#1 Hand sanitizer
The more I become older (yes I am 18 now (: ) I become more and more of a germaphobe. I have realized germs are everywhere!!!! If you decide to grab a bite to eat and have no wear to wash your hands or if the bathroom is out of soap you are prepared with your hand sanitizer. Bath and body sell cute little ones for around a dollar but honestly, I just go with the trusty original scent as some of those fruity ones can give me and my friends headaches… you know who you are (:

#2 Perfume and deodorant
This one is pretty self explanatory nobody wants to smell bad. So be prepared with a travel size deodorant and mini perfume your friends will thank you.

#3 Chapstick AND a lipstick
Chapstick is always a good thing to carry around because your lips can just become dryer than a desert in like two seconds and why I recommend a lipstick/lipgloss is you never know where your outing can take you. A color or shine on your lips can change your beauty and make you seem put together.

#4 GUM GUM GUM
Well duh. Bad breath is nasty. Just make sure to hide your gum or all your friends will steal it.

#5 Baby wipes
Greasy skin is not my friend! Some days I need to take off my makeup or cool off after a workout. Baby wipes are also super great for the small messes like cleaning your seat at a restaurant, spilling coffee on your pants or getting rid of deodorant stains. The reason I choose baby wipes is that they are all natural and gentle. They and can be used in many situations, unlike most makeup wipes.

#6 Eyelash curler
Anyone who knows me is laughing right now cause I curl my lashes all the time… that may be a bad thing hahaha. My lashes suck OK!!! But I think they are super helpful.  Instead of applying 20 coats of mascara throughout the day causing your lashes to stick together and look clumpy just curl each lash a few times.

#6 A snack
No purse is complete unless you have a quick an easy snack- granola bar, trail mix anything you love because you never know when you could be hungry, which for me is all the time lol.

#7 Brush, bobby pins and a hair tie
Everything a girl could need for her hair. Tangled hair is not a cute look and you need bobby pins for those fly aways. A hair tie in case you are so over your hair and need to put it up asap. Plus every good friend carries an extra hair tie with her.

#8 Wallet
You need a place to store all your cash and cards as well as gift cards and your license … make sure it can zip or close tightly. Don’t let anyone get into that haha.

#9 Pen or Pencil
How many times have you been somewhere and needed a writing utensil now you are prepared to sign a bill, write a note or sign a form.

What I love about purses is you can really personalize the items you need to carry and they are cute (:

Comment below what bag you have !

Flight ANXIETY

With spring break just around the corner, many of us will be traveling all over the world to beautiful places. The main transportation to get to your tropical destination is airplanes.

I have always had major flight anxiety ever since I was little. I love airports and the free peanuts they give you on flights. But being up in the air away from all( maybe not all but most)  connection from the world below makes me very anxious.

Below are some tips to ease your nerves while flying-

*don’t let any anxious thought stop you from traveling the world*

#1 Think about the facts

Remind yourself that the most dangerous part of your travel day is the drive to the airport. Your chance of being in an air disaster is approximately one in three million. While knowing the facts may ease your nerves don’t read up on the latest airplane crashes or the rate of people dying while flying before you step on the plane.

#2 BREATHING!

Breath! Breath! I can’t say this enough. When you feel anxious especially in a contained space your breathing tends to become faster. It’s important to listen to your body and slow your breath. Slow, big breaths can help you relax the body, and the mind usually follows.

#3 Distract Yourself

Flying takes up a good amount of time, enough time to work yourself up with anxious thoughts. Before departing, create a small checklist of things you want to accomplish while up flying, and then work hard to check those items off. There are tons of things you can put on your to-do list- read a chapter of your book, draw, do some work/homework, listen to music or a podcast and surf the web.

#4 Erase negative thoughts with positive ones

Now, this skill is hard it takes time, practice and commitment to get rid of all those anxious thoughts filling your brain. “What if we die” or “the plane will crash” those are common things moist anxious flyers state but change those thoughts into “what if we don’t die” or “what if the plane lands safely”. Changing your negative thoughts into more uplifting one’s will improve your mood and drastically decrease your anxiety.

#5 Practice

Of course, this one is harder as flying is expensive and not always needed. But the more you do fly the better you will be at it.

As you embark on your journey remember positive thoughts and following these tips will make your flight so much better.

*Safe travels*

5 Habits of SUPER productive people **How to become productive**

DSCN0248

#1 Take BREAKS!

When faced with a lot of work we tend to get overwhelmed and want to sit down and do it as fast as possible. But contrary to popular belief taking breaks actually makes you work faster and more efficient. Taking breaks re-energizes you and allows your brain to rest from all the work you have been doing. People say study breaks/work breaks should be around 15-20 minutes … a long enough time to recharge but not too long to where you become unmotivated. Also, A quick break can dramatically improve focus, productivity, and creativity. So take breaks!!

#2 Schedule EVERYTHING

Knowing what you have tomorrow or a few months from now is super helpful in becoming a productive person. Make sure you own a planner, notebook or even use google calendars on your phone or computer… one place to store all your information (personally I love my target planner and bullet journal- I don’t use any online organization thing. It helps me to write things down because I am more inclined to remember them)  If you know you have a test in a week you can start studying early for it or if you know your family is coming to town soon you can start organizing as well as cleaning ahead of time. With a planner or a schedule, you are prepared for almost anything.

#3 Take CARE of yourself !!

Life is full of pressures and stresses but you have to remember to take care of yourself first. Getting enough you time, sleep and exercise actually increases productivity levels and makes you more awake and alert. Taking a night for yourself to rest or get a few things done on a Friday is beneficial so you stress less during the week. 5-minute meditation, watching your favorite show, reading a book, playing a board game or going for a walk allows you to relax and forget your worries for a few moments.

#4 TO DO LISTS!

I can’t stress the one enough. This by far has made me the productive person I am today. I write a list of everything I need to do for the day even on the weekends in a blank journal I own. You could also do this in your notes on your phone. Some people have sections in their planner for to do lists but I personally like doing them in a separate journal so I can have a separate space. I separate my to do lists into two columns urgent and non-urgent. Urgent is stuff I have to get today and non-urgent are tasks I’d like to complete today but can be pushed to the next day. To do lists let you stay on task and help you achieve your goals for the day.

#5 Say NO (sometimes)

When feeling overwhelmed with many projects, schoolwork or plans Its okay to allow yourself to relax and say NO! This is a skill that takes a lot of time … personally, I have major FOMO but sometimes saying no to plans is better for your sanity…  make sure to say it nicely though.

I hope these help. Let me know in the comments if you have any other productivity tips! LET’S DO THIS!!

xoxo

Beauty hacks EVERY girl should know

-Instead of applying bronzer all over your face apply it in a three shape over your forehead, cheeks, and jawline.

-Your brushes collect gems bacteria that cause you to have nasty pimples. Take a gentle cleanser and use it to clean your brushes.

– Cover up dark circles by applying concealer in a triangle shape.

-You should apply dry shampoo the evening before, not the morning of.

– Mix a little peppermint oil into your lip gloss to give your lips a plumping boost.

-Dust an eyeshadow on your part to shade your scalp slightly, making your hair appear thicker.

– Keep makeup remover next to your bed so you have zero excuses not to take off your makeup before you go to sleep.

-Remove makeup with coconut oil- easy, fast, cheap and all natural.

-Try Apple Cider Vinegar as Toner.

– Instantly make your eyes look more awake by lining your waterline of your lower eyelid with a nude/white eye pencil.

-Exfoliate before you self-tan.

Remember you don’t need any of this to feel beautiful!! You are all perfect just the way you are xoxo

Anxiety

Anxiety

As soon as I hear that word my stomach drops.

*anx·i·e·ty(noun) a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

It has something I have had to deal with my whole life but has taken a turn for the worst since sophomore year. But now I know how to manage it and I hope anyone who is struggling learns to do the same from this post. I asked on my instagram(Endlesslyhannah shameless self promo LOL) for you lovelies to ask me questions about anxiety. I picked my four favorite ones out of all the ones you all sent in. Enjoy xoxo

#1 Difference between stress and anxiety?

Contrary to popular belief I believe there is a huge difference. According to health status …stress is caused by an existing stress-causing factor or stressor. Anxiety is stress that continues after that stressor is gone. Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or even anxious.

In my opinion stress and anxiety feel completely different to my body. When I am stressed my head hurts and I feel like my body is being pulled in many directions. Anxiety has a much bigger impact on my body. I began to shake, my stomach is in my throat, I become quite nauseous, My body feels tingly, shortness of breath and many other physical symptoms. It’s important to be able to differentiate those feelings and identify which you are experiencing.

#2 What is a panic attack?

*By definition a panic attack is the abrupt onset of intense fear or discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes and includes at least four of the following symptoms: Palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate. Sweating. Trembling or shaking. Sensations of shortness of breath or smothering.

-Symptoms can change based on the person

(Tips for panic attacks include lots of breathing techniques as well as mediation) (:

#3 When to see a doctor about your anxiety?

I am no doctor or therapist but in my personal opinion I believe you should see a doctor when your anxiety starts taking over your everyday life.

#4 Coping strategies for anxiety?

– Medication (If needed)

-Meditation- I am big believer in the 5 minute meditation everyday but you can meditate for longer if you feel particularly anxious.

-4 7-8 breathing

#1 Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.

#2 Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.

#3 Hold your breath for a count of seven.

#4 Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of eight.

-Imagine the positives of the situation when you’re anxious instead of imagining the negatives. Very hard to do and takes lots of practice.

-THERAPY THERAPY!! Highly recommend.

-Remove self from the situation( IF POSSIBLE) Go to a safe comfortable space. If you can’t leave the situation just imagine you are in your safe place. My safe place would be my grandparents house in Florida or my room(Where I feel most relaxed).

-Take care of yourself when you start to feel anxious

Go for a walk

Pet a furry friend

Doodle/Color

Watch a funny show or movie

Talk to a friend or family member

Read

Music

Just do something you enjoy(:

I hope this helped. If you have any concerns or questions please contact me(:

Little quotes that have helped me

“So far you’ve survived 100% of your worst days. You’re doing great”

“You’re not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Just relax. Master the day. Then just keep going that every day”

“It doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful”

“I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness”

Coffee Addiction

This is a short blog post about what coffee I get it at what place(: I know all you coffee lovers will enjoy this-

Mcdonald’s- Medium Sugar-Free Vanilla Iced Coffee- Only a dollar and contains no sugar

Wendy’s- Small Mocha Iced Coffee- Hits the spot without being too sweet

Tim Hortons – Most people love their Ice Caps but they are not for me…so I tend to go for Iced Latte or an Iced Mocha Latte.

Starbucks – Now the Starbucks coffee I always get when I want to indulge is, of course, an Iced Caramel Macchiato

Now you may notice that none of those drinks are hot coffee because I think it tastes nasty. I much prefer Iced Coffee. But when I’m not in the mood for coffee here are some of the drinks I tend to go for …

Mcdonalds- Small Mango

Wendy’s- Medium Strawberry Lemonade

Tim Hortons- Frozen Lemonade

Starbucks- Tall Green Tea frappuccino no whip or The Medicine Ball

I hope you all try some of these drinks if you do make sure to DM me a picture on my Instagram – Endlesslyhannah
